Sound familiar? The yellowing of bleached hair is completely normal, and there\u2019s a solution for it. We\u2019ll show you.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Why does bleached hair turn yellow?<\/h2>\n<p>Bleaching removes the hair\u2019s natural pigment, but the deepest, warm (yellow-orange) pigments are the most stubborn. As the cool toning applied by the hairdresser gradually washes out, these warm shades resurface. Add to that the effect of chlorine, sunlight, hard water and certain products, which pull it further towards yellow.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><em>Yellowing doesn\u2019t mean your hair was ruined \u2013 it means the toning has washed out. This is natural, and it can be maintained at home too.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>What can you do at home?<\/h2>\n<h3>1. Purple shampoo \u2013 the most important tool<\/h3>\n<p>By the logic of the colour wheel, purple neutralises yellow. Purple shampoo (silver shampoo) deposits tiny purple pigments into the hair that suppress the yellow shade. Use it 1\u20132 times a week \u2013 but not too often, because overdone it can leave an ashy-purple tint.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Protect the hair from external effects<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Before the pool, rinse your hair with clean water or use a protective product \u2013 chlorine intensifies yellowing<\/li>\n<li>Wear a hat in strong sunshine<\/li>\n<li>Avoid washing with water that\u2019s too hot<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>3. Hydrate<\/h3>\n<p>Bleached hair is drier and more fragile. A cool shade (ash, platinum, icy blonde) needs a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bosphorus.hu\/en\/ferfi\/szolgaltatasok\/\">professional toner refresh<\/a> every few weeks to keep the desired effect. This is far gentler than a full re-bleaching.<\/p>\n<p>If your hair has already grown out a lot at the roots or gone very yellow, don\u2019t experiment at home with drastic solutions \u2013 fixing a bad home dye job is always harder and more expensive than a well-timed salon visit.<\/p>\n<h2>Why isn\u2019t purple shampoo alone enough?<\/h2>\n<p>Purple shampoo is a great tool for neutralising a yellowish shade, but it\u2019s important to understand its limits. Purple shampoo only tones the surface and doesn\u2019t penetrate deep into the hair \u2013 so its effect is temporary and can\u2019t replace the professional toning done in the salon. If you rely solely on purple shampoo, over time the hair can become dull, sometimes slightly ashy-grey. The best strategy is combining the two: purple shampoo at home for maintenance, and an occasional toner refresh in the salon for the real result.<\/p>\n<p>It also matters what water you wash in. The mineral deposits of hard water dull and can yellow blonde hair over time \u2013 an occasional deep-cleansing (chelating) shampoo can be the solution, removing these deposits.<\/p>\n<h2>Maintaining blonde hair long term<\/h2>\n<p>Bleached hair needs continuous attention, because bleaching chemically strains the hair. The secret lies in regular hydration and reducing heat exposure. Use a hair mask weekly, avoid daily straightening and too-hot drying, and refresh the ends regularly with a trim so breakage doesn\u2019t climb higher.
